Seats

How seats are taken and returned, and what users should do.

A seat is one person using SonicCloud at a given moment. Seats are shared across your organization.

How seats work

  1. A user opens SonicCloud and takes a seat.
  2. The seat stays reserved while SonicCloud remains open.
  3. When the user closes SonicCloud, the seat returns to the pool.

If a workstation shuts down unexpectedly, the seat is returned automatically after a short time. An administrator can also release it immediately.

For users

SonicCloud takes a seat automatically when it starts and returns it when you close it. You do not need to do anything else.

  • Close SonicCloud when you are not using it, so colleagues can use the seat.
  • Restart SonicCloud if your IT team changes settings.
  • Contact your IT team if SonicCloud reports a license problem, and include the message and the time it appeared.

Plan the right number

Seats count simultaneous use. To choose the right number, record the peak number of seats in use each day for four weeks. If the peak regularly reaches your limit, discuss additional seats with SonicCloud before renewal.

When all seats are in use

New users see a message that no seats are available until someone closes SonicCloud. Administrators can check who is using seats in the admin console and release any that are no longer needed.
