Requirements
Infrastructure and details to prepare before installing the license server.
Infrastructure
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platform | Kubernetes 1.35 or later, or Red Hat OpenShift, with an ingress controller |
| Database | PostgreSQL 14, 15, 16 or 17, self-hosted or managed, with a database and user created in advance |
| Capacity | 4 to 8 vCPU and 8 to 16 GB RAM for about 200 to 300 concurrent users |
| Database storage | 80 to 100 GB SSD |
| DNS | Two names pointing to the ingress controller: one for the admin console and one for the license API |
| Certificates | Issued by cert-manager or by your own certificate authority |
| Tools | kubectl (or oc), helm and openssl |
| Registry key | key.json, provided by SonicCloud |
| Windows installer | SonicCloud.<version>.Installer.x64.msi |
SonicCloud provides the registry key when you receive your license.
Recommended environments
Use a separate staging environment to test license imports, upgrades and the workstation installer before production.
Details to collect
| Detail | How to find it |
|---|---|
| Ingress class | kubectl get ingressclass |
| Ingress controller labels | kubectl get pods -n <ingress-namespace> --show-labels |
| Certificate issuer name | kubectl get clusterissuer |
| Database IP address | Your database administrator |
Cluster capacity
The license server starts with two replicas and scales automatically. Make sure the cluster can schedule at least two license server pods, each requesting 2 CPU and 4 GiB of memory.
Next: Install on Kubernetes.
